Garbage disposal in Kibera has been cited as a challenge in conserving the environment and maintaining a cleaner community. However a section of young people have now taken the role of carrying out weekly cleanups and in return earn a source of income to help change the mentality of irresponsible waste disposal.Check out our latest pictorial story as highlighted by Sumaya and Veronique. #KiberaNewsHub. Residence of Kibera are strugling with poor disposal of garbage. The dumping sites which are nearby the houses are the source of air and water pollution.Therefore endangering the health of the residence. Youths in Kibera are trying to find a way to address the issue by collecting garbage from households. Apart from trying to creating a better environment for people to live in, it is also a way to make a living by charging residence a fee of 20 to 50 shillings per month and by selecting plstics which they sell.
